#137 Tim's Rehab Update at Bay City, MI - BRMC Home Nursing Care & Outpatient Therapy.
Dear Friends & Relatives:
Mon., Mar. 14 – Tim’s therapy postponed until tomorrow. We talked to him as we were traveling home from Florida. Made arrangements to visit Tuesday afternoon as he has therapy in the morning.
Tues., Apr. 15 – It was great to see Tim and family. He didn’t have therapy as he felt ill and had a bad headache in the morning. Tim was sleeping when we arrived, but felt better when he woke up. We had a nice visit and were pleased to see the progress he had made in being able to lift his arms as high as he can. Tim’s therapy evaluation was postponed from last Friday to this Friday.
Wed., Apr. 16 – Tim did have therapy today. It was the usual round of stretching his muscles and doing some rotations of his shoulders. Heidi, RT, came this afternoon and helped Tim put the first coat of stain on his mailbox ornament.
Fri., Apr. 18 – Tim feels much better since his rough day on Monday. They did Tim’s usual stretching and then his evaluation. They have decided to move more slowly with his standing on the floor and eventually walking. They want to be sure he is strong enough to stand alone and move his legs.
Mon., Apr. 21 – Today Tim’s OT therapy was stretching his shoulder muscles. He has been trying to keep them strengthened to be able to raise his arms above his shoulders and eventually above his head.
Wed., Apr. 23 – In PT this morning, Tim stood in the Life Gate, not very long, but it is good to hear he is standing without his wheelchair. He was happy about it. This noon Heidi, RT, took Tim to Red Lobster for lunch. This gives him an opportunity to use different skills to build strength and dexterity. Also, he has to communicate with other than family and friends.
Fri., Apr. 25 – Tim had his therapy yesterday. His muscles were stretched and he stood in the Life Gate for a short time. He was tired after having therapy two days in a row. Tim is feeling good and stronger each day. His daughter Jen is taking care of him today.
Tim is upbeat and praises God for the great progress he has made over the past two weeks. We shared with him there are hundreds and hundreds of friends and relatives, across the United States, Canada and Panama, praying for him to one day reach his goal to walk unassisted. We praise God for your faithfulness in praying for healing, movement, strengthening of his muscles to walk, use of his arms, hands, legs, improved air capacity and a clearer voice. We continue to pray for the eventual removal of his trachea tube.
Helen Steiner Rice shares how we can “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.”(Psalm 34:8 NIV) in her poem titled:
It Takes the Bitter and Sweet
Life is a mixture of sunshine and rain,
Laughter and teardrops, pleasure and pain,
Low tides and high tides, mountain and plains,
Triumphs, defeats, and losses and gains,
But always in all ways or some dread affliction,
Be assured that it comes with God’s kind benediction,
And if we accept it as a gift of His love,
We’ll be showered with blessings from our Father above.
In Christian Love and friendship,
